Fiction vs. Fact

FICTION: Collectors continually hassle people that cannot pay their bill(s).
FACT: Collectors are trained first and foremost that harassment is not tolerated and should never be used. Instead - they are taught to listen to what consumers say, their situation and help them find a solution.
FICTION: A collector will show up at your home.
FACT: Collector's rarely go to any one's home or business in attempts to collect a debt - it's just is not cost effective. By using modern technology and telephones, the average collector can make many more contacts in a day than by going to every one's home.
FICTION: Collectors force people to file bankruptcy.
FACT: When people file bankruptcy they are usually no longer financially obligated to their creditors - and the creditor and collector's agency usually receive very little or nothing at all. Collectors understand that people under financial strain need guidance in resolving their accounts rather than expensive litigation, and often are able to offer flexible alternatives.
FICTION: Collectors are a special breed of people.
FACT: Collectors are normal people just like you and me. They each have their own experiences and come from all backgrounds and walks of life. Collectors are continually trained and are often quick-thinking, problem-solving, goal-oriented, problem-solvers that are effective at communicating and understanding.
